Since this project takes place on an inconspicuous patch of rock, it was very important from the start to create a context for sporting performance. As a result, the focus was on the connections between the first-time participant, the long journey of training up to this point, and the poetic examination of inner doubts and thoughts.
The filming, which was planned for over a year, took an unexpected turn on the first day of shooting when Philipp succeeded in getting through on the third attempt - still during camera tests. However, the loss of the documentary approach gave rise to the opportunity to interpret the sporting challenge more artistically and to approach the shooting days more classically in a narrative style.
With five different specialized camera platforms, the necessary recordings were taken over four days of shooting to retell the story up close.
Two extremely important contributors to the creative collaboration were Melissa Varela (poetic writing and voiceovers) and Sebastian Aeberhard, who created a unique musical world of sound especially for the film.
